I heard Chuck Jones did an episode where he changed a character (Daffy) in so many ways to prove a point. No matter how he represented Daffy, Daffy was still Daffy Duck. Not because we saw the grumpy old duck and thought instantly- this is Daffy and I MUST think he's grumpy because that's what I've been told his character is.
